Expected D.A hike from July 2010

It was expected that a 10% Hike in Dearness allowance for Central Government employees from July 2010 due to increase of consumer price index. The present D.A is 35% from January 2010. Normally D.A for central government increases twice in an year (January & July) to meet the increasing consumer price index.

End of May 2010 it was expected that the D.A may be increased to 45% from July 2010. But now the expectation came down to 8% - 9%. Anyway Central Government Employees can expect at least 8% additional D.A from July 2010 onwards.

  2. DA is going to be minimum 9%. Current Index is 172 for month of May. Now if the index even comes down to 165 for month of June (which is not possible), the expected DA will be 9% minimum. But if crosses 174 (chances are very high), then the DA will be 10%. So expect either 9% or 10% DA. Not 8% at any cost

  4. Kindly let me know the basis of calculation of DA. What is the relation between AICPI(IW) and DA. As per my knowledge, DA was 0 as on 01.01.2006 when AICPI(IW) was 115.78. Now when, AICPI(IW) IS 172, WHAT SHOULD BE DA.

  7. As AICPI for the month of may was 172, so minimum DA increase will be 9% even if AICPI comes down to 160 (in june). For 8% DA increse AICPI for the month of june should come down below 160 which is not possible. If AICPI for the month of june crosses above 174, DA increment will be 10%.
