EPF Information through Internet and Mobile

There is a happy news for about 4.8 crore subscribers of Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) that you can access you Provident Fund (PF) transactions through your mobile by SMS alert or through internet. The Economic Times reported that the PF Subcribers can soon be able to track the status of their claim settlement and account transfer online and also get updates on their mobile phones .

By the end of March, 2011 the EPFO is expected to digitalize all data and could offer this facility to its subscribers.

"We have already completed the digitalisation of data at our 113 offices and the work in the remaining seven offices would be completed by the end of next month," Central Provident Fund Commissioner Samirendra Chatterjee told PTI.

"Once the digitalisation process is completed, the account transfer and money withdrawal claims' status could be done and tracked online by Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) subscribers on the mobile phone," he said.

The status of the subscribers request for account transfer and claim settlement will be informed through SMS, if they provide their mobile Number in the application form. The subscribers are supposed to get two messages regarding their account transfer. The first one is when their old account is being closed and the second one is when the money is transferred to the new account. The amount of money transferred also will be informed. One of the EPFO officials informed this.

For the claim settlement also the subscriber will be informed when the application is received and also when the settlement is completed. This will inform you the amount of money deposited and in which bank the money is deposited etc.

Submission of online application for account transfer and claim settlement is also under consideration. At present the account transfer and claim settlement are a time consuming process and it is expected that when the digitalization and online application facility is completed, it would be quite easy and convenient for both subscribers and EPFO Employees.
