All India Consumer Price Index Numbers (AICPIN) for the Month of April, 2011 is 186

All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for the month of April, 2011 increased by 1 point from March, 2011 and reached at 186. This is based on the year 2001 is considered as 100 points. The AICPIN for the months of February, 2011 and March 2011 was 185 points.

The AICPIN is calculated on the basis of the price change of popular consumables such as Atta, sugar, rice, vegetables and fruits, Doctors fee, firewood, clothing, milk etc and compare these price changes in different cities in India.

The maximum increase of 6 points shows in  Chhindwara centre and the  maximum decrease of indices in Tiruchirapally centre and it shows a decrease of 4 points . Following are the indices of the six major centres in India.

1. Ahmadabad – 180


2. Bangalore – 190


3. Chennai – 164


4. Delhi – 172


5. Kolkata – 180


6. Mumbai – 184


The rate of General inflation in India for the month of April, 2011 is 9.41% and it was on March, 2011 was 8.82%. The Food Index based inflation is 8.24% in April, 2011 and in March, 2011 it was 8.29%.

The All India Consumer price Index is taken for the calculation of Dearness Allowance for Government Employees in consideration that the cost of living is increased that much. This AICPIN may be increased more in the following months due to the hike of petrol price and the expected increase of the price other petroleum products.
